Today I would like to talk to you about Low Carb diets and some very dangerous misconceptions about them!
As you might have noticed low-carb is quite the buzz word out there in the health and weight loss world.
But have you ever wondered what a well designed, truly healing low-carb diet looks like?
I see a lot of misconceptions floating around, some of which could not only be in the way of your success but even seriously jeopardize your health.
Today let’s talk about LOW-CARB DIET MISCONCEPTION NR 1: Low carb and low fat are ok together!
This one has all my alarm bells ringing like crazy!
Let me ask you first: Have you ever tried a weight loss or any Doctor prescribed diet?
With the partial exception of Adkins the last 50 years of diets has meant low or NO fat!
It has been thoroughly drilled into our minds that fat is very bad for our health, especially saturated fat, and the only acceptable fats are “vegetable” oils. (Which btw do not come from veggies at all, but mostly from seeds through a horrible chemical process).
What happens now, when you hear that low-carb is the new way to go for health and weight loss? Most people would just lower the carbs, eat more protein and not add enough fat!
Here is what will happen to your body by adding low carb to low fat:
- You will become malnourished. (Fat is needed to absorb many vitamins)
- You will increase inflammation (chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, arthritis etc)
- You will get into starvation mode (which makes it almost impossible to lose weight)
- You will be tired all the time (not enough of the right kind of fuel)
That is WHY is so very important to follow a well designed low carb diet, that takes in consideration the right macro-nutrient quantities for your age, sex and fitness level and it’s based on healing, whole foods, not chemically processed “foods”.
GREAT NEWS on the horizon!
I have a tentative launch date for my Healing Foods Method Program: Oct 1st.
Please send me an email if you want to know more about it.
Next week we will talk about misconception #2!!
Thanks, I would be interested in your further information re low carbs, fats etc.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi D’anah!
I recommend subscribing to the newsletter. If you would like a more personal conversation about specific issues please send me a message through the contact me page. 🙂
In regard to the statement …”With the possible exception of Dr Adkins (sic) in the last 50years…”, I think that you will find upon closer analysis that both Dr Atkins and the Drs Eades are in fact high fat diet with modest amounts of protein and low amounts of mostly above-ground vegetable-based carbohydrate.
That is exactly what I meant about Dr Adkins diet!! 🙂
I was not aware of Dr.Eades’ work yet, s I will gladly look into it!
Thank you for your feedback.
