6 Wonderful Success Stories
Week after week you hear me preaching about the benefits of a ketogenic diet.
I tell you all the possible reasons why this kind of diet would be appropriate for a large number of people, especially people with carbohydrate intolerance (See here).
This week I decided to do something different.
I want to share the success stories of real ketoers, who changed their life with this “diet”.
Here is what they say!
I’ve been eating a keto diet for 3 months. I’m a 55 yr old 1st grade teacher. After the first month, I realized my legs were no longer swollen all the time. I then realized I was no longer taking aspirin/ibuprofen at least once, and usually twice, per day. My energy levels are going up. My weight is dropping slowly, but surely. I feel better than I have in years. This is no longer a ‘diet’. It’s a new way of life. I won’t go back. I’ve cheated twice during the past 3 months. Both times, I ate a cookie and quickly felt awful. That awful feeling lasted 3 days! I was hoping the first cheat/feeling awful incident was a coincidence. The second cheat showed me it wasn’t. I know I will be diabetic or worse if I don’t remain on this new way of eating. I am at peace with this. I will be fine and look forward to my feeling good/healthy future.  Gina E.   **1st month results***

My libido (along with my confidence) have soared, and I am incredibly sorry that I didn’t start this months ago! If you’re reading this, START NOW! Or you’ll be wishing you did   Valerie G.  keto has completely cured my sugar addiction, food cravings are gone and my husband says my body looks just like when we started dating 21 years ago and I didn’t even do this for weight loss. Oh and my teeth always feel slippery clean now.   Kibby M.  Vivica Here’s one that I don’t know if you’ve heard of before with Ketogenic lifestyle – my warts of many years are falling off. Literally. I am thrilled. I have a few more that are starting to change and will apparently be leaving soon. WooHoo! I‘ve only being doing Keto for about 7 weeks now – I have lost 8 lbs. EASILY – it just seemed to melt off into the 2nd/3rd week – I feel more grounded and centered, not flighty and spacey, foggy-headed. My skin looks amazing and my hair is more lustrous, shiny and growing (it had gotten thin). I am more peaceful and calm. My poops are great now – this is an important part ladies! I used to have major digestive issues and constipation. Again, 2nd or 3rd week in everything shifted and stabilized. My belly bloat is GONE – 1st week on that one. I have always had low blood sugar issues since a child – and now, with this way of eating, I don’t. I am still learning more through this journey and am so pleased. I highly recommend it to anyone. I have had people asking what am I doing – I am radiant and healthier looking than ever – I start telling them about Keto. I am sending people to your site Vivica for the information and to take the carbohydrate tolerance test. Thank you for all you do. Your recipes, your time, your energy and dedication are appreciated by MANY. Please keep shining your light. We all are to keep shining light on this subject. I look forward to new changes and lessons every day through this process. It’s fun and exciting. Wow – that was a lot.    Katie P. On Keto since July of this year:
18 Pounds lost
4+ inches lost off my waist, 4+ inches off my hips
Down three sizes
Down 3.5 percentage points in body fat
Shaved a minute off of my mile time
No longer pre-diabetic
Periods regular for the first time in my life
Not a single migraine since starting
My skin looks ten years younger
No more issues with blood sugar spikes and crashes, which has gone a long way in helping manage my depression without medications
Increase energy and mental clarity  Kelly M. I was on the keto diet. My hypoglycemia was totally gone. My energy was up. My migraines gone. The arthritis in my hands gone. My depression meds lowered. My weight 30 pounds…gone. I wasn’t sick with a cold or flu for the entire year. Theny dad died and I slowly chose to self medicate with old comfort foods: high carbs, lots of sugar. Now all the “gones” are back. Ugh!   These are success stories form clients I have worked with:  Charrisse R  I’m three and a half weeks in. I’m starting from a very ill point, I had a severe anaphylatic reaction to three bee stings August 26, 2014. The emts found me, dead. My body has been in a state of absolute shock since. Adrenals blown, endocrine system totally jacked and my blood sugar levels and blood pressure levels were dangerously high 165/110 bp and fasting sugar one morning of 175! Before the anaphylaxis I was a slim 145 @ 5’8″. I have a farm and rescue and I am a full time nursing student. I am busy. I was in good shape and decent health minus migraines and being diagnosed three years ago with fibromyalgia and borderline RA and fifteen years ago with severe depression and anxiety. In two short months after the anaphylaxis, I gained 25 lbs, I changed nothing about my eating. I was so inflammed, do swollen and in so much pain, I was at my wits end. Doctors had nothing. In fact they wanted to pile on bp and sugar meds. Vivica contacted me. We’d been friends on Facebook for a long time, but I’d not paid attention to the blog or the Keto lifestyle. I didn’t “need” to, I thought. After having been on it for a little over three weeks now I can say without a doubt that I know I am on my way to restored heath. My sugars and pressure sunk to normal and have stayed there since week two. Already ten pounds have dropped. The swelling is gone. The pain is gone. No migraines since starting. The brain fog is lifting. The depression that I’ve battled to the darkest depths.. I had PLANNED my suicide last year.. Its gone. My anxiety is improving. Im off ALL meds. I still have a ways to go to get to pre anaphylaxis in some ways, but I’ve already far exceeded that in others. I’m recommending this lifestyle to everyone. Yes, it’s challenging at first to curb the old ways and not look at it as a super restrictive way of life.. Once I got past the carb detox and craving.. I focused on how good I felt eating clean. Now I feel like I’m “cheating” eating a keto treat or a keto coconut flour “bread” lol. Â

Thanks Vivica for sharing my testimonial. I will be sharing my KETO story on my blog real soon and will be sharing YOU and your website to my readers. This journey is fun and so life changing. Keep up the great inspiration and work.
Thank you Kibby and excited to read your blog too!! 🙂
Hi Vivica,
I love to read these success stories — they are truly inspiring, which is why I went keto 10 months ago. During that time, I’ve lost & gained back about 6 pounds multiple times in a real rollercoaster (I had/have a total of 15 to lose). Most recently, as I watched my macros carefully and maintained a 70/20/5 ratio of fat/protein/carbs, and eating about 1400 calories per day, I suffered a 2-month long bout of major hair loss, and recurrent (daily) nosebleeds. I also work out (HIIT) 3 times per week, with walking on the other days.
There are undeniable benefits to keto, like mental clarity, more energy, better skin, etc. But people should also know that for some, even when they work as hard as they can and stick to keto, it may not be the magic bullet they’re hoping for… and long-term, some nutritional deficencies CAN occur (selenium, vitamin K2 and C in my case) even WITH supplementation. Like many women over 45, I’m hypo-thyroid (treated with Armour). My TSH was between 1 & 2 before keto, but has gone above 3 (still fine) while in keto. Honestly, I thought it would go the other way & I’d be able to reduce my dose… not so.
So, while I love reading these successes — I hope some readers understand that it may not happen that way for them. A side note — I’m still keto, but will probably transition back to a low-carb Paleo diet (which I was doing for 1.5 years prior to keto) for the sake of my hair, and because I’m tired of swallowing handfulls of supplements every day.
I just wish my 5’3 48-year-old body had responded like these ladies 😉 Cheers!
HI Heidi. Did you work with a nutritionist for your keto diet? Or did you just put it together yourself? Not all keto is created equal, you know! When I work with my clients I do not just put them on a diet, for example, but I do a total health assessment and look at nutritional needs and support all the organs. My first goal for them is to make them HEALTHY, not just to lose weight.
So to do keto for weight loss only might not be the right attitude towards it…you need to address health issues first. Also a keto diet works best for people who have a carb sensitivity and insulin resistance. Maybe that is not your case….
Well, I wish you all the best in your continuing journey towards health and hope you find success and happiness!
Thank you for sharing your story with us.
Thank you for your reply! Yes, I purchased/followed Maria Emmerich’s plan for hypothyroid people (tons of supplements). I think you’re right, it may just not be a part of my own personal make-up to remain in ketosis. As far as insulin resistance, my doctor was concerned my blood sugar was 99, prior to starting a Paleo diet… I haven’t been tested again, but suspect that is no longer the case. Something I certainly owe to a Paleo/keto diet. Thank you for such great recipes & information. I’ll always follow some form of lower carb diet, just because it feels like the right thing to do.
Low carb is for sure the way to go!!
I am sorry Maria’s plan did not work for you. If you are ever interested in working one on one, looking closely at your situation, I am here, ok!! Just send me a contact message!
Take care!
Wow! I’m 52/5’4″ as of 11/2014 and have been Sleuthing the web to find an explanation for my Total lack of weight loss yet consistently being in moderate to large ketosis. Heidi’s comments are the closest I’ve found that relate to my situation. In 2/2012 I went into ketosis and lost All the weight I wanted to going from the 150’s to 126 in about 6 weeks. By 1/2013 a combination of stress factors etc led me to cave and gain it all back. But I was so Happy in ketosis . . . No more inflammation, No more edema, no more adrenal/thyroid supps, no more sinus congestion, no more Insatiability~Gone. So about 2 months ago I went back into it~fairly quickly and Effortlessly . . . now 2 months later and not a pound lost. Recent bloodwork confirmed that I’ve Just crossed the threshold into menopause. That must be it. An imbalance of hormones. I’m supplementing with progesterone cream but think that I need to add estrogen at some point. And to top it off I’ve Seriously been looking at Maria’s consulting services but the $$$ was more than I could do. Plus, ‘something’ in me said I Should be able to figure this out on my own putting my time/money into supps etc vs. consultation fees (which apparently don’t always pay off 😛 . . . ) Thanks Heidi for posting and Vivica for **All** of your Support. My plan at this point is to get the results of my hormone panel (prog/est) and see if they have the 200 moles of progesterone: 1 mole of estrogen ratio that is recommended. After that I’ll do an ALCAT panel or something like it to test for food sensitivities. Also planning on having my doc restart my testosterone cream. I can’t help but wonder if all of the success stories were for premenopausal ladies(?).
Monica!
Thank you for sharing your story!! I would like to just say one thing, there better alternatives than progesterone creams for you!! What a progesterone cream does is totally overdose you on hormones and imbalance your whole endocrine system in a domino effect!! I would be happy to explain that to you in a (free) call, and just tell you what options you have. No need to work with me, I just want to help you make a better decision!! (BTW I was specializing in nutritional hormone balancing before starting the keto diet….)

I am having success on Vivica’s program and I am in full menopause mode. Since starting Vivica’s program, I have lost 53 lbs since Feb 14th of this year. I had gastric bypass 15 years ago and suffer from malnutrition issues. Since going Keto, I was finally able to get off all medications, lose weight as well. For the past 10 years I had not lost a single pound regardless of what diet I tried or how much I exercised. If I was working on my own, I know I would not have made it this far. Vivica’s individual attention to my specific needs has made this program successful for me to follow. It is well worth the investment into your help and future health !
Thank you Bev, it’s wonderful watching your progress! <3
