Keto OS Product review and Progress Report By The Nourished Caveman
August 17th and August 19th

One month of Keto OS

Hi I decided to finally share with you my first weeks of progress with the product Keto OS.

Here are some things you should know:

  • I am on a Keto Paleo diet (except the last week as I have been in Italy and ate cheese!)
  • My carbs are around 40 to 50 gr per day whole carb
  • I am using Keto OS for weight loss and energy.
  • I was unable to lose weight for 3 months on keto – low energy and adrenal fatigue – constant hunger despite around 30gr of carbs a day.
  • I started out at about 143 pounds. Went down to 133 in about 3 weeks.
  • 3 weeks later (I have no scale available at this moment) I am now full 2 sizes smaller!
  • During these last 3 weeks I have been on the road traveling most of the time, so eating out a lot.
  • I have been taking the Keto OS all along except a 4 days break during a retreat.
  • I take 2 scoops a day, I like to take my Keto OS in about 16 ounces of water, and sip on it during about an hour. (That minimizes the loss of ketones through the urine!!)
  • If you are interested in trying the product you can buy a sample here: http://thenourishedcaveman.pruvitnow.com

Here below is my progress report as I posted in my Fb group Keto Paleo

Progress Report

August 19th

Ok I will post my progress here to share with you guys. Between my hectic work schedule and my stressed adrenals, I gained 8 pounds in the last 3 months. I want it gone!

So i decided to try Keto-os to help. (I have been to busy and tired and even eating perfectly did not help my ketosis or weight loss! )
So here is my starting photo 2 days ago and me today 2 pounds down. (see photo above)

August 20th

Ok progress so far- Day 3 of keto OS. Started at 141 today down to 138.2.
I could not resist eating a ripe fig from my tree this morning, so kinda messed up my day hunger wise, as that usually would make me ravenous!
I did take my keto OS around 10am and was not hungry until lunch now at 12.30pm. No other breakfast except the fig. Plan to do yoga today but otherwise working on the computer!

August 21st

Lesson learned!
So this morning I am up a pound and feeling like a bag full of water.
Ok here a confession is due: yesterday after the fig I also had two peaches from my tree. (Should not have planted so many fruit trees!!)
For the rest of the day my blood sugar was elevated, around a hundred. And I was hungrier than the day before. For some people fruit is really a no no and I am one of those.
Took two doses of Keto OS yesterday but my ketones only reached 0.8 mmol.
When something kicks you right out of ketois you are usually sensitive to it, in my case fructose is one of these foods.
Today I will stay within my regular keto foods and under 50 grams of carbs.
Lets see what happens!
Thats how any healing journey proceeds… two steps forward one step back. Sometimes we put the unrealistic expectations on ourselves and that just set us up for failure. Consistence and persistence are two key elements here.

August 23rd
I discovered something very interesting. When my cortisol is up then I cannot sleep right and I end up waking up very bloated and retaining water like 2 days ago when I went up a pound. Yesterday I didn’t have time to weigh myself. But today I am down to 138 and fit in my old shorts which I keep as a measure of my progress. So weight loss and cortisol patterns are of course closely related but it’s a whole different thing to see it on your own body which such clarity.

Now is KetoOS helping me? So far I really gotta say yes and this is how:
– no hunger which for me is a really big deal being insulin resistant and I’m always hungry.
– more energy and that is also a big deal when you have tired adrenals and low thyroid.
So other I am happy with the progress it’s not even been a week but I’m seeing good results.

August 24th

Progress report for Monday:
Another lesson learned, ( I mean I knew it but it really came to my awareness now) – when eating a big dinner too late, and my body does not have time to fully digest before laying down, I do not fall asleep easily no matter how tired I am, plus do not sleep well at all. We already know the results of that: waking up puffy and bloated. Although this morning the weight was stable at 138, so I assume I must have slimmed down a bit!
I do feel my clothes fitting really good and the love handles are shrinking yay!!!
Btw yesterday I did a lot of really intense manual labor (we cleaned the duck pond yikes!) and I sipped on my Ketone drink all day instead of taking it all at once ( I take 2 portions a day).
I had great energy and stamina all day and today I am not even very sore. Brian the CEO pf Pruvit had mentioned to me that the Keto os makes a great sports recovery drink, and I think it does work!
Oh and this morning I woke up a bit tired, as yesterday was a very hard day, but still have ok energy and a good mood

August 23rd
August 26th

August 26th

Ok sorry for the stupid pose but wanted to show you the muscle definition starting to improve!
Progress report:
Day 7: weight stable at 138. Waist down a 1/4 inch more. I worked really hard in the last 2 days cleaning ou pond. Very hard physical labor.
Had more energy and recovered faster.
Not so sore as expected.
Had no time to measure ketones or blood sugars.

August 27th

My progress report for today Thursday:
My weight is stable even though I was not feeling very good yesterday I think I got a mild heatstroke from working in the sun all day moving rocks and carrying buckets. Was a great workout but I think I overdid it a bit. That’s what happens when suddenly you have too much energy and I think it was definitely Keto OS doing that.
I will not be posting progress reports now until Monday as I will be out of town for my birthday and I will suspend all tracking and supplementation. Will take inventory of the damage on Monday!
Ps a girl needs a break sometimes right?!

September 3rd

Down to 134.4. I stopped keto os for 3 days then picked it back up.
Down a total 9 lb now in 3 weeks.
Here are some very important considerations: I have been doing a ketogenic calorie restricted diet. I I can attribute most of my weight loss to that, undoubtedly Keto OS has been helping by reducing my appetite completely eliminating cravings an increasing my ketosis.

It also helps in maintaining my energy stable and at the good level. In my experience it was better to take 2 doses one person in the morning and 1 in the afternoon put them in a big glass of water and sip on them slowly during a total of about an hour so that I supply a steady stream of ketones to my body. So far I am pleased with the product I don’t think it is a magic bullet but I think it will have great benefits in the proper context. At this point I would not recommend using Keto OS with a high carb diet.

September 6th

Quick update. So I went out for dinner last night, and had a bigger portion (chicken cesar salad, and some roasted brussels sprouts) and also had 1 glass of champagne to celebrate with a friend. Well this morning up 2 pounds!!
Conclusion:
You have seen my weight go up and down a pound or two in the last 2 weeks, almost every day.
That is very clearly only water retention weight, due to extra cortisol, no sleep, extra carbs or a glass of booze.
The trend though has been steady down, starting at 143 and touching lowest at 133 yesterday.
I am pleased with the experiment and consider it a success. Would ideally like to reach 130, so let’s see what happens after I get to Italy on Tuesday!!

Keto OS Progress Report by The Nourished Caveman
Sept 9th at SFO Airport, drinking my Keto OS instead of airport food!

September 13th

This is my KetoOS progress so far: 12 pounds down in 3 1/2 weeks. I take 2 scoops or packets a day, usually one first thing in the morning and one mid afternoon. Sometimes i break my dose into two smaller ones. I put it in a big glass of water and sip on it during about an hour so I don’t get a big rush of ketones into my body ready steady stream less get wasted and washed out in my urine.
Please note that today’s photo was taken after a 24 hour airplane journey where i am usually super tired and bloated. I still have some belly fat to shed, but being a 47 year old woman, that is mostly hormone related. The journey has just begun, so stay posted for more progress!!  – After I come back from vacation 😉

Ketosis, carb reduction, thyroid and adrenals!

One final consideration I would like to make about a specific benefit of this product. (And I suspect I will expand on this much further in the future!)

When you have adrenal and thyroid issues, it is fully ok to start a ketogenic diet with very restricted carbohydrates, to properly keto adapt. But when you have adrenal fatigue and/or thyroid imbalances it is not advisable to continue on such a low level, like around 20gr of whole carbs a day.

Most people manage to stay in a low level of ketosis when they finally raise the carbs to about 50 to 60 grams per day (either net or whole) but will not reach a high level of blood ketones in mmol.

I found Keto OS to be a great answer to the conundrum between reconciling the benefits of ketosis with the needs of a thyroid or adrenals condition!!

It is a fine and delicate balance and using Keto OS will help maximize the benefits of both efforts.

IMPORTANT: If you are experiencing Adrenal fatigue or thyroid imbalances I recommend working with a professional, adding Keto OS to your diet alone will  not be enough to resolve the problems!

I am just wondering what happens when you stop taking the product. Or is it something that you always have to use.

hey Diana! Once you reach your goal weight you can either stop taking it and stay on a maintenance program or you can reduce your dose to a maintenance dose. Unless you go back to your old habits weight loss will be permanent! 🙂

I have been on a keto diet for 6 mos. have been losing and feeling great. Unfortunately my hair is falling out in handfuls!! No one told me keto would result in this! Not sure I would have signed up for skinny but BALD. I have been taking keto os for a few weeks- should I stop? Did this cx my hair loss? I looked at the ingredients- it is MCT powder. What’s the difference between that and the oil?? HELP

      Chris,
Keto OS has nothing to do with your hair falling out. That is a symptom of hypothyroid, and I would not recommend doing a ketogenic diet without supervision in that case.
Dried MCT is the same as liquid MCT but uses a protein carrier to make it a powder.

I didn’t notice anything different in my 3 days of using the product, disappointed, on HCLC strictly, no dairy, for a few months after a few years of lower carb paleo, and 40 years of whole food eating.

I have been using Keto Os for 2 weeks and some really strange symptoms(kinda similar to yours).. When I take it I have PHENOMENAL cardio wrkts(biking and running effortlessly) but then the next day or two if I don’t take it I am STARVING like a carb withdrawl, high cortisol hunger that only piles of food will appease(just bc my stomach fills, but I don’t get FULL)…I haven’t really lost weight on it(admittedly I’ve only been taking 1/2 pkt now since I blew up water wise after taking a packet a day)
Then when I just eat my normal diet w/o taking it I am fine.

    So the question is:
    1. why is this product making me hold so much water(mainly in my legs-similar bloat I get to blood sugar swings), although I did feel a tad more defined in areas, stomach and legs were way watery.
    And

    2. Could it be causing a spike in my blood sugar/insulin.. any thoughts would be great

      Hi Ariel.
It is hard to say what is happening exactly without knowing your case history. You might have a food sensitivity to one or more of the ingredients. I have never heard of water retention as a side effect before though. Are you taking it for weight loss or for performance?

      Reply
      • Ariel says:

I was mainly taking it for weight loss. I am okay with the ingredients but do have underlying histamine intolerance issues. I have similar reaction to it as I do to some Oxalates(water weight, mild foot burning, slightly achy joints- although one person reported this could be bc bad fats are being released from fat cells–arachidonic acid– causing inflammation).

Could it increase cortisol in some weird way, or does it seem like more food allergy reaction?

        Reply
        • The Nourished Caveman says:

It could indirectly increase cortisol if you are sensitive to the ingredients and that becomes a stressor to the body. That is the only pathway I am aware of. Also don’t forget that if you have antibodies to a protein, they will be binding that antigen and therefore creating histamines…that might be another possible reaction.

That is sure an idea I’ll look into!! I measure my blood sugar the other day since I’ve been hungrier with it and it was elevated. For whatever reason I need to consume more carbs(VEGGIES) with this product… maybe bc I burn through more bc of better workouts. Any similar experience?

Meg it is possible you are getting an “advanced” keto flu. I can’t stress enough that Keto OS, as great as it is, is not a substitute for a healthy diet and healthy living practices….also switching to keto too quickly and from a situation of poor underlying health can cause reactions. There is no direct correlation with with supplement-symptom, I think it really depends on your existing health condition.

I’ve had the same response to Keto O/S. I’ve been taking it for about 7 weeks now and have felt wonderful, following a basic low carb/protien diet, no to little(very little) sugar. BUT, I can’t get into any of my pants, I mean none that I could easily fit into last fall even after a 4 month Europe trip with a Cruise! I have gained 12 pounds right around my butt and thighs!!!! I stopped taking it, I’ve tried to read everything I could on the effects on people. I’m not sure if its just me or what. I exercise, walk , brisk walk 3 times a week for 1 1/2 hours, bike at least 2 times a week and do a mini workout with push-ups, sit-ups, leg lifts for 30 min almost every night. What am I doing wrong???

Omgosh FINALLY someone else who experienced something similar. The top of my butt accumulated fat and thighs. Then my stomach started getting watery. . Only thing I concluded was that it was spiking my insulin or blood sugar and turning into fat. Like the keto was acting as pure sugar. . When I tried to stop taking it I got withdrawal symptoms like one does stopping a massive sugar load.
Still struggling losing 12lbs I gained on it..since then my stomach has had issues.

Possibly bad reaction to the stevia, food allergy, but would’ve thought weight would’ve been normalized by now.

      Thoughts?

I have had great results from Keto OS. I suffer from IBS and I have found that Keto OS has helped me. We have to all keep in mind that every body is different and because of this we will have different results. However, I have found that if you follow the recommended use of this product you will get the results that are described. You won’t get results eating bread, rice and all the other things that you’re supposed to avoid. Follow the directions and the expected results will follow.

Hello there! Glad I found your post. I am interested in this product to help kick my into ketosis. i have reach a .7 but after a day of 15g of carbs, I went back down to .5, and I also know that I need to be higher for optimal ketosis.

Can you tell me what to expect if I take this for a while and then stop? I would figure ketones would drop but, how significant is that, or if the product is taken long enough or until fat adapted, would the drop be less significant?

My apologies if this question has been asked and answered and I have missed it.

    Thank you

      HI Kristi,
yes the product helps with keto adaptation! It just makes it easier to ride through hunger and cravings and gives you more energy. If your liver can not produce high levels of ketones by itself is something that you will discover after few weeks, and it is related to a complex hormonal picture common to many women. That is another conversation though. I suggest using Keto OS for adaptation, then to help you maintain ketosis and support that fat burning adaptation. It is a valuable product and I use it every day.

So, what was your protocol for Keto OS? Did you take it first thing in the AM? After breakfast? And how much? Did you do a full pack or 1/3? Do you work out with it?

I have been taking it for three weeks on a Keto/Paleo diet and haven’t lost an inch. (I don’t weigh myself.) And I have estrogen dominance, hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue, so I am usually carbing up at dinner. I have tried taking it at various times during the day. But no matter when I take it, I am hungry about 1.5-2hrs later.

Just curious how and when you used the product. Thanks!

Hi, looks to me that your weight problems are coming form deeper health issues, and will not be easily fixed with just a diet or a ketone supplement, unless you specifically address those underlying causes! I face similar challenges with my patients every day, and the work we do together resolves the issues and enables them to lose the weight.

They are. I have been Paleo for 2.5 years. Lost weight. Loved it. Then my body revolted 1 year later with the ED, AF and hypo. That was 17 months ago. I Stayed Paleo, then, Whole 30 (3 mos-lost the weight, but couldn’t gain muscle), then, Keto (gained weight) and then, back to Whole 30 (3.5 mos) and now trying Keto again with Keto Os supplement (no weight loss yet). I was finally diagnosed 6 mos ago and have been on herbal and other supplements since August, but to no avail weight-wise. Was just wondering how much and when you took the supplement to compare.

It will take time to heal….Keto OS can help manage blood sugar and cravings. I used to take it twice a day at the beginning, once in the morning and once mid after noon for energy. Now I just take it in the morning. Be patient with yourself, healing the thyroid is possible but it takes patience and commitment! 🙂

Like I am thinking of using it for the day of and after to help get me back into ketosis right after, or do you think it is better to just keep using everyday 2x a day?

I think that could be a good ways to use it as well! If you are in ketosis and doing good on your own you do not need it every day. It might even be more effective when used just as you describe. ( In your case, not in every case!)

    Hey Vivacia.

There’s an interesting comparison between exogenous vs endogenous ketones here.

I would be interested in your thoughts.

Hi. I’m wondering if you can answer this question about the Keto OS product. I’ve looked everywhere for how many Milligrams of caffeine it has per serving and can’t find it anywhere. I had my whole thyroid removed when I was a child (I’m now 55) and now take 88 mcg of Levothyroxine daily. I also am pre diabetic and take metformin and blood pressure medicine. I’m concerned about the caffeine level and wonder why the company won’t provide the amount used or found per serving???

I do not recommend using the keto os charged. You can use the one with no caffeine!

So I have been taking keto OS for 2 weeks and. My weight fluctuates I have been sticking to the keto diet I have no idea why I go from 173 to 175 and it’s been a back and forth thing. I do drink the drink really fast though maybe because I haven’t been drinking it through out the hour that might be the problem

sara, maybe the problem is the diet and not the drink…what and how much you are eating are probably the most relevant factors here!

ok I am eating low carb I’ll make baked drumsticks and I make lettuce wraps out of them and I only eat at lunch and dinner and this is all before 7pm. I even cook steak and chop it up and eat lettuce wraps so I have no idea what’s going on. I did start off with 1 package in the morning and one before I went to bed. Now I am just doing one package. I purchased the 30 day supply so I have plenty just wondering why I am not seeing a difference I also go to the gym and sometimes do insanity at home and haven’t seen the scale go down.

Ive been taking the orange cream for 8 days now, 2 times a day. I asked a person if the 5 day trial would actually show you if it worked. She said yes, so of course i thought if it works i will just go with whole jar. So I did and so far have seen no results. Next to no sugar, and trying hard to keep to less than 30 grams of carbs. Have seen no extra energy etc. How long should it take because I wont order another jar after this one if something dosent happen soon.

Cathy, if you are eating the right way, and no major underlying health problems, you should feel the difference….it really depends on your individual physiology though…

From my experience 1 week is not enough time for real results. 2 times day is good but I think you should try lowering your carb intake totally and sip your ketos drink within the hour or two throughout the time frame. Try that and then see how it works. I believe that since everybody’s metabolism is different may also be a contributing factor.

Thank you, this was very helpful. I am the same age and started the ketos as well with very similar results. I find your experience and documentation to be very honest and real. I will probably continue using the product, sipping very slow to keep in my system. I recommend 2 times a day as well for real results and a extremely low or no carb diet. I been drinking this for one month and saw no results until 4th week. I realize I was drinking it too fast instead of sipping throughout the day. I also realized you have to limited carb intake which includes wine. I strongly believe in the whole ketosis state so therefore I know it does work. My ultimate goal is to train my body to use fat instead of carbs to fuel my body for energy.
