5 Cooking Implements To Make Your Keto Life Easier and More Delicious
This is a guest post by Louise Hendon, co-host of the Keto Summit and author of The Essential Keto Cookbook.
With any diet, and especially a Ketogenic diet, ensuring delicious and healthy food makes it onto your dining table is pretty key!
That’s why I’m a huge fan of easy and quick meals so you’re never left wondering what’s for dinner. Spend your time relaxing and learning by taking courses like Vivica’s. Don’t waste it in the kitchen or worrying about what to cook.
That’s why this post is all about saving yourself a ton of time, money, and energy…simply by using a few cooking implements. Let technology do the work for you.
I’ve listed below my top 5 cooking implements and why they’re so great for creating quick and easy Keto meals.
This is probably my favorite device currently. It’s perfect for making stews, soups, and roasts super faster.
Is a pressure cooker “better” than a slow cooker? Personally, I love both devices, and I think if you have the counter space, you should own both.
The slow cooker creates amazing flavors simply because you’re cooking your food on a low heat for such a long time. I try to keep one slow cooker going for bone broth all the time.
The pressure cooker is fantastic to making your meat tender in under an hour. So if you get home and realize that you don’t have dinner ready yet, then this is your life-saver. My favorite dish to cook in the Instant Pot is a beef curry – this is a dish that usually takes several hours on the stovetop in order to make the beef tender. But it only takes an hour in the pressure cooker.
Plus, the Instant Pot has a lot of other built-in functions. In particular, there’s a yogurt function that I use to make coconut yogurt.
Obviously, a Vitamix or Blendtec blender is fantastic, but any good blender can really enhance your keto diet. In particular, make sure to get one that can crush ice easily so that you can make iced drinks in the summer months.
The blender solves two huge problems on Keto – breakfast and snacks. Both can be tough to figure out when you first start a ketogenic diet.
Use your blender to make breakfast green smoothies packed with healthy fats. Or try Vivica’s Chocolate Almond Ketone Breakfast Drinks. And then use your blender in the afternoons to blend the ingredients together for your keto fat bombs.
I know it can be really confusing when you first go Keto…what do you eat, what do you drink, how much should you eat, can you have this food, etc? But once you have breakfasts and a few snacks sorted, your life definitely becomes much easier. I’ve also put together a free 7-day Keto meal plan here that can supply you with more ideas and inspiration so that you never get stuck on Keto.
A dehydrator is a really fun as well as practical item to keep in your kitchen. Kale chips and veggie chips make great snacks (and kids often love them).
So season your veggies with your favorite spices and seasoning, wait 8 hours for the dehydrator to do its magic, and enjoy without spending a fortune!
Most people don’t realize how much time and energy they’re wasting with a blunt kitchen knife. Plus, it’s dangerous!
So, get a good chef’s knife and learn a few basic knife skills to make your cooking experience safer, easier, and more fun.
A great snack (and breakfast) on the keto diet is egg muffins. And with this silicone muffin pan, you’ll get perfect egg muffins every time without having to scrub the pan.
BONUS ITEMS
Ok, full disclosure, these are on my wish list, but I’ve tried them before and they are so fun to use. So, if you’re looking for any gifts for Keto friends (or non-Keto) friends, then give these a try:
Make your own soda without all the sugar, food coloring, and additives. You can flavor it with stevia, tea, coffee, or infuse additional flavors in (herbs work really well).
Pour a can of coconut milk into this thing and you’ve got instant coconut whipped cream. Top your fat bombs and drinks with this. Create a simple and elegant dessert with a bowl of coconut whipped cream and fresh berries. Or just add it to anything and everything!
I hope these kitchen implements make your Keto cooking experience more fun and less time-consuming.
