Although there is only one carnivore diet, there are different “Styles” you can use to make the most out of it, depending on your needs and goals. Some people can do a carnivore diet that includes dairy and some people can include fruit and spices. Depending on your need, the carnivore diet can be a short term elimination diet to heal your gut or it can be a life long lifestyle.

I have been doing the carnivore diet with my husband since mid-October 2018. We started it not just for weight loss, which has been miraculous, but because of the number of health issues we both have, some of which are a complete mystery despite having countless, expensive, tests and specialists since February 2018. After battling through the detox, the withdrawals and what is known as the “keto-flu”, We both have seen vast improvements in our overall health. In fact, we were relieved of other ailments, aches, and pains that we weren’t aware of.
I’ve always believed that at least 85% of all ailments can be fixed with diet and/or body movement (stretching, correcting posture, exercise) and we had been eating an American Pyramid diet without the processed foods and such, but were getting sicker and sicker. In one year after losing most of our ability to move around well due to the pain that the doctors wanted to give us pills for, we refused the pills, we, unfortunately, had gained over 100lbs each. We were getting desperate and I started reading everything about the biology of the human body, how different foods are used and processed by the body, and which diets out there would help us to achieve our goal of not being sick anymore.
It’s a work in progress and we’re still healing, slowly, but it’s working without any over the counter or prescription drugs. We both have PTSD and have also started seeing improvement in those symptoms as well, but that was a happy surprise. Since October, my husband has lost about 35lbs, and I have lost 84lbs, and we have just started, a few days ago, to be able enough to start some light exercise, and it’s only getting better from there.
Grocery shopping is easier and cheaper since it’s just whole milk, eggs, butter, cheese, beef, and whatever other types of meat we want for that month that ‘s rotating in our diet. We do drink coffee and tea, I season with my normal seasonings but my homemade versions so we don’t get garbage in our systems from premade ones, and, on occasion, I may use garlic, onions, and mushrooms in our meals as a once in a blue moon treat. I also found that using a small amount of vanilla extract in my cooking imparts a sweetened illusion that is pleasant from time to time without the actual sugar. Eat when you’re hungry, don’t when you’re not. If you get the munchies without the hunger you’re most likely thirsty or you cheated and that’s the sugar withdrawal.
I’m sorry for such a long post, but I wanted to share our experiences so far with everyone. We’re not fully cured or anything, but we’re not using any meds, we’re getting healthier and losing weight, making us feel so much happier than on any other diet we’ve tried, including a vegan diet, (worst decision ever).
Thank you so much for sharing your story!! I wish you much success with your journey!!

Just recently learned of the benefits of liver. I can’t wait to try your bacon liver meatballs. My husband and I hate liver and the texture. Your recipe sounds like it may take care of those issues. Thank you for this post. I have printed off lots of ideas!
